"Lifestyle photography is a kind of photography which mainly aims to capture portraits of people in situations, real-life events or milestones in an artistic manner and the art of the everyday. The primary goal is to tell stories about people's life or to inspire people in different times."
I feel as if that really nailed it on the head. It is also why I love lifestyle photography the most. It is probably the closest to photojournalism there is without actually being photojournalism. Simply, the photographer is capturing moments in everyday situations or milestones of the person or peoples life.
It's also another term for non-studio portraits. I prefer natural light photography which lifestyle does as well.
Some would argue that maternity, engagement, family, or senior portraits would not necessarily fall under the lifestyle category. I beg to differ on that point. Granted the photographs we capture might not necessarily be in their everyday life situations, but we are capturing the milestone of their life. The example with engagement photography being that you may not be just wondering around a field laughing, kissing, or looking into each others eyes. However, this is an important milestone in many couples lives and capturing those moments to share with your friends and family members is part of lifestyle portraits.
Kaytee Lorentzen Photography does like to capture the moments of everyone. I believe that capturing the milestones are very important in a persons life and is a part of lifestyle portraits. KLP specializes in these types of photographs and is geared towards a more natural type of photography instead of studio.
