Bloomington, IN Engagement Photo Session - Sam & Cam

This session was a little extra special for me because I got to photography my cousin, Samantha, and her fiancé, Camden.

I have known Samantha my whole life and I am so thankful she allowed me to photograph a very special moment for her. Sam & Cam are going to separate universities this fall and she wanted to have this special memory that she could hang up all over her room.

Their session was held in Sam’s upcoming new town of Bloomington, Indiana as we went all around Indiana University’s campus and surrounding areas. There were a few times I am pretty sure they thought I was crazy with some of the prompts I gave them, but they embraced it whole heartedly, mosquito bites and all.

Thank you both for giving me this special opportunity to photograph these memories for you!

Engagement Session for Leaina & Tyler

When his eyes met hers, you could see the undeniable love he had for her. She was his everything, so much to a point that we did these photos for her and even laid in the grass (which come to find out later, he is allergic to and broke out in hives).

Leaina is my co-worker and one of my close friends. When Tyler proposed I immediately said to her, “Can I do your photos?!” I am so happy she allowed me to capture those moments for her. Tyler was a true sport as we just went along with all of my requests. I couldn’t thank them enough for being more than willing to climb what felt like 3,000 stairs to get these photos.

Thank you so much for giving me this opportunity and have such a blast during your session. Even when I made sure it was safe for you to use the tree branch, but not for me and fall on my face. You both made it so fun and enjoyable.

Johnna & Dave's Fall Session

These two have a love story like none other. From high school sweethearts, to the Greek power couple, to now engaged couple. I went to Ball State University with both Dave & Johnna and roomed with Johnna my senior year. I cannot tell you how much love these two have for each other. These photos can show you even more.

When I met Dave & Johnna, they were leaders in the Ball State community. They were loved by SO many and everyone referred to them as a “power couple.” They both were president’s of their greek affiliates - Johnna the president of Kappa Delta and Dave the president of Phi Sigma Kappa. They were involved in so many other activities and still had a way to make time for each other. When you are with them, you can easily tell by the way they look at each other and laugh together how much they love each other.

Now I hope you can see it too when you look through these photos.

Cory & Trent's Engagement Session

Let me just start out by saying that these two were so awesome at their session. There posing and emotion was just so natural I almost didn’t have to direct them to do anything. When I asked if they practiced, Cory responded with “We watch a lot of America’s Next Top Model.” It definitely showed.

A little backstory - I knew Cory in high school. As a matter a fact, he was physics lab partner and my junior year prom date (about 8 years ago). I will spare you the photos for now because even though we were an awesome prom date group, we may look a little different (Cory had a lot more hair and I had a lot less - I had to wear extensions that night and it did NOT look good). So, I was pretty honored when he reached out to me for his engagement photos.

During this session, you could totally see how much they loved each other. I hope you can see it too the way they look at each other. There is nothing that makes me happier during a session than knowing I can capture that love and have it transcend through the photos. I wish you both the best! Enjoy this little collage of my favorite photos from their session.

New Year, New Photos Mini Session

This year I have decided to partner with some local charities around Bloomington in order to give back to the community. I have always wanted to do more, but was not sure how to do so. I am going to be offering 5 days of scheduled mini sessions this year which will have all the session fees ($100 each session) donated to the paired charity.

What does that mean for you? All you have to do is schedule a 30 minute session in an open timed slot for the day of the mini session. You would pay the $100 and that will be donated to the organization that is paired. The photos will then be available for purchase. Each scheduled mini session day will have a specific location.

This month's theme is New Year, New Photos! I am pairing with Stone Belt for this session! Start the new year off right by updating your photos. This is open to families, couples, and for individual portraits. This will be held in a photo studio. Since this studio is not mine, but I am borrowing it for the day, the address will be only given to people who book a session.

Stone Belt is a nonprofit organization that provides resources and supports for individuals with disabilities. Stone Belt was established in 1958 and is now the oldest and largest agency of its kind in south central Indiana, currently employing over 500 individuals and serving over 2,000 clients. They offer a full range of programs and services in Monroe county, empowering people to demonstrate self-determination, contribute to the building of community, and experience quality of life. Their services are accredited by CARF (formerly the Commission for the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities), and they are an affiliate of The Arc and United Way of Monroe County.

They provide residential, employment, manufacturing, life skills training, family support, child development and psychological services to help people actively participate in the community. Services are provided with a person-centered, customized approach that focuses on a person's capabilities and interests. Their beliefs are self-determination is essential; learning creates empowerment; all people have contributions to make; housing/home life must be self-directed; employment is a fundamental part of adult life; and social life and relationships help create quality of life. Stone Belt has earned a very positive reputation for assisting individuals with developmental disabilities, especially those with challenging behaviors, to be meaningfully included in community life.

They believe in the uniqueness, worth and right to self-determination of every individual. Therefore, it is their mission, in partnership with the community, to prepare, empower and support persons with developmental disabilities and their families to participate fully in the life of the community. Most of their services are paid for with third party reimbursement from Medicaid and other state and federal government sources. But, while vital, state and federal funding only provides for the health and safety of recipients. They rely on community partners to maintain a margin of excellence which allows us to provide appropriate training to staff and more enriching programs to their clients.

In order to book a session, you just click this link to fill out a form! You will then receive a follow up email from me confirming your time with the exact location of the session.
