Why am I updating my pricing, process, and products?

As I continue to grow as a business, I have decided to really look into what you want and come up with somewhere I can meet you in the middle.

Kaytee Lorentzen Photography is about to turn four years old and I thought I would do a little bit of research into what I can do to help you out when making purchasing decisions. These went into effect June 1, 2019.

Based off of surveys and some feedback, I have decided to take out the digital gallery buy-in and add it to the session package with the FULL printing rights. (If you are not sure what this means, check out my blog post on copyright, which includes a description on what the difference between copyright and printing rights are).

This did mean that my pricing had to change to reflect this decision, so even though the prices have gone up, that does give you printing rights to the photographs.

I have also taken away product collections as there was very little interest in them, as well as narrowed down to a few products for me to still offer. Since you will now be getting the printing rights, it’s not very often that I will be getting product orders. However, I have kept two options (metal prints and photo albums) as I trust my lab with the most spectacular items (and I can explain them to you more as well as design them for you).

My process (as in the timeline) has been updated to reflect all of these changes.

I have included the new updated pricing sheets for you to see! If you want to see more information, head to my Session Information page.

Memory keeping, and why it's important

One of the main reasons I started my business is because I loved growing up and looking through albums and photographs of my parents and learning all about their lives before me, while I was little and even now. It’s something I still even like doing.

This is something known as memory keeping. It’s the physical products from your session or event to share with someone later on. This could include framed photos, albums, canvases, metal prints, and so many other things.I wanted to explain why this practice is so important.

It’s a hard copy.

It is something you can physically hold. I know that it may seem like it’s taking up space, but you are doing the exact same thing on social media. The only difference is that these photos will reappear more often than the ones you post on the internet. You can fill your home with these. They can hang on your walls, coffee tables, bookshelves and much more.

You can pass this along to generations to come.

Have you ever gone through your grandparents photos, or maybe even your great-grandparents? It’s crazy to see how much has changed or even being able to see them as they were at our age. I even love seeing photos of my grandmother, who I have never got the chance to meet. It’s crazy to see the similarities I have with different parts of my family. With my nephew, I hope to get to do this with him. I want to show him all the photos of his aunts and his mom growing up.

It is a part of your history.

This is your story. The photos, the videos, the posts you write, are all about you. They are what makes you, you. These are things that would make your book or your movie. It documents a time in your life. It brings back memories and even shares your history with others. My boyfriend loves showing me my embarrassing photos that my parents have in my house, but he says “It’s you though".”

It’s so important to keep up this practice so many people can have the same experience that I have had and that I hope you have too. It’s the one thing I am really excited about to have. When I started my business I knew that I wanted to make sure that people would get the chance to do this.

All about wall art & why you should love it

Let me just tell you about this thing I absolutely love and wish everyone could too. Wall art. Wall art is just the physical product of a photograph on a wall. That's it. Wall art is just a fancy way of saying it and to compile all the different types.

Every photographer can offer different forms of wall art from metal prints, canvases, wood prints, etc. There are so many types that are out there and some photographers offer them all and others do not.

I offer canvases, metal prints, & framed photos. I wanted to keep it to these because I offer a lot of other products that don't go on the wall and I wanted to keep my selection smaller. These are all wonderful options.

Canvas

These are a classic for wall art. Most homes that have larger photographs are canvases. It's easy to transport, and it is a focal point for any wall.

Metal Prints

These are newer than your typical canvas. They are a blown-up photo on a sheet of metal. It's actually pretty cool because it can be very shiny and it pops into your eye when you walk into a room. It can either be hung or placed upright like a framed photo.

Framed photos

This is the most common you see in others homes. It's just a photo in a classic black photo frame. You can easily hang these as well as prop them up.

Why should you love these?

It's a very easy way to fill your home with your memories. I love them because I have a lot of fun making these designs for you. It warms my heart to know that your home is filled with your memories and that you will be able to cherish them for years to come.

How do you do this?

I have a whole video to show you how I go through this process.

What is a photo gift and how can you get one?

Photo gifts are my absolute favorite. It's one of my favorite things to get to order for my clients. There is anything from bracelets and key chains to mouse pads and calendars. Even blankets and pillows I can get. It's something about those which can be very special.

Now how can you get one? It's quite simple actually. Just let me know you want to place a gift order from me with your session photos. If you need help deciding what you want, let me know what the gift is for and I can help you find the perfect fit.

I have included some photos for you to look through to see what all you can get as a gift!

What's the big deal with product collections?

I get some questions about what product collections are and why I always push for a product collection instead of just coming up with a bunch of individual items by themselves. I promise, there is a reason behind it. I want to explain more about what they are and why it's better for you to go with a product collection.

A product collection is a combination of popular items (and sizes) put together to get a great deal on the products. I have gone ahead and given a discount to these items if you get them bundled. You can find the four options I have on my pricing pages.

Why do I want you to buy these collections? For your benefit. Not only are they popular items, but they also go well together in your home. Plus, you don't have to sit down and think "Now what will look good in this room? What size should I choose? Which product is really better?" I have done all the heavy lifting in that department. I made them specifically to help alleviate any stress that you will have thinking about it.

I wanted to show you a few of the products that can come in these collections.
