It is almost time for my first travel vacation. I will be going to Copenhagen, Denmark and Dubrovnik, Croatia. I have gone to other places before, but this is my first for this blog so we will start with this trip.
I am very excited for this trip because I have been planning it for TWO YEARS! It's finally here and I cannot wait to share all the beautiful places with you.
The other exciting part is that I am meeting my friend that I have known for ten years for the first time. His name is Lasse and we met over Facebook when he recognized my last name. He noticed that it is Danish (it's very common, almost like Smith is here in America). Ever since then, we have been friends and stayed in touch for this past decade.
I knew I wanted to visit the land of my ancestors but I was never sure how to or when. It always felt like just a far off dream that I had and was never really attainable. Until about two years ago, when I just decided this was something that I really wanted to do. I talked with Lasse about it and asked if he wouldn't mind showing me his home city. He knew that he would have exams around that time, but he knew for sure that nothing would be a problem in the July month. So, then it was settled. I would be traveling to Europe.
We also discussed me traveling to other places in Europe since I was already there. So many options were thrown out in the open such as Italy, Germany, Netherlands, and so much more. I eventually decided on Dubrovnik, Croatia because not only is it gorgeous there, but it's home to many Game of Thrones scene locations. If any of you know me, I am a HUGE fan of Game of Thrones so I was all about that. The others would be great to visit, but I will have to return for that.
Two years later, it is time for me to head there. I am nervous and excited because this is something I am doing all by myself. I feel as if I can do this, I can do anything. It's honestly one of my biggest fears, but I am confident that this will help me grow as a person.
I will be spending a majority of my time in Copenhagen with a few days in Dubrovnik. Lasse is going to be my tour guide throughout Copenhagen and I have to be my own guide in Dubrovnik.
I cannot wait for this trip to begin and share everything about it along the way. I am not sure yet how I will be posting (i.e. daily, weekly, by place, etc.) but I will be posting many photos and possibly some videos for you.
